Life Insurance Corporation, LIC, is the oldest government held Life Insurance Company in India. It has been a good performer throughout, making the jobs at LIC, most coveted by graduate degree holders in India.
Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO), is the entry level administrative and management post jobs in LIC. This recruitment for AAO is categorised further into the posts of – Generalists, Chartered Accountants, Company Secretary and Legal. The number of vacancies is 350 on an average of the last few years.



Minimum age is 21 years as on 1st November 2013 and maximum of 30 years. There are further relaxations; SC/ST 5 years, OBC 3 years, PH (gen) 10 years, PH(SC/ST) 15 years, PH (OBC) 13 years, ECO/SSRCO (gen) 5 years, ECO/SSRCO (SC/ST) 10 years, ECO/SSRCO (OBC) 8 years, Confirmed LIC Employees – further relaxation of 5 years.


AAO Generalist – Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university in India, with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks and relaxable to 45% in case of reserved categories.
AAO Chartered Accountant – Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
AAO Company Secretary – Member of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI).
AAO Legal – LL.B. with 50% aggregate marks and minimum 3 years of law practice experience.


There is Basic pay of is in the scale of Rs. 17240-840(14)-29000-910(4)32640. In addition other benefits are Gratuity, Defined Contribution Pension, LTC, Medical Benefit, Vehicle Advance, etc.

Pattern of Exam

Scheme of Examination:
The selection is a two-step process: 1. Written Examination, 2. Interview.
Written Examination Pattern:

Paper I, Objective, 140 marks – 2 hours

Paper II, Descriptive, 50 marks – 1 hour
